Statement of Heritage Significance:
Architecture/Environment:
The original portion of the homestead is constructed of local sandstone quarried from a ridge on the property. The sandstone has been rendered and rules. The building is surrounded by a wrap around convex verandah, now built in with gauze. Of note is the decorative cast iron rain head attached to the eaves.
History:
Carstairs was divided from Para and Mallara and settled by the Cullinan Family. The homestead is one of only a few stone buildings in the district, but has been modified and extended. However, the original form remain in tact and well kept.
Recommendation:
Encourage restoration of original facade.
