ANZAC Day services will be held in Curlwaa, Dareton, Pooncarie and Wentworth on Thursday, 25 April.

Curlwaa

9:00am – ANZAC Service, Curlwaa Memorial Hall.

Dareton

11:00am – ANZAC Service, Tapio Park Cenotaph

Pooncarie

10:45am – ANZAC March – Pooncarie Hotel to Pooncarie Cenotaph (assemble at 10:30am in front of the Pooncarie Hotel)

11:00am – ANZAC Service, Pooncarie Cenotaph

Wentworth

6:00am – Dawn Service, Wentworth Cenotaph

10:45am – ANZAC March – Adelaide Street to Wentworth Cenotaph

11:00am – ANZAC Service, Wentworth Cenotaph

6:00pm – Going down of the sun service – Wentworth Military Collection Museum

Please note:

All Wentworth Shire Council services including customer service centres, the Buronga animal shelter, Council depot, workshop, stores, libraries, waste facilities and the Wentworth Visitor Information Centre will be CLOSED for ANZAC Day on Thursday 25 April 2024.

Water quality and blue green algae – drinking water is safe

The Murray and Darling Rivers are experiencing high levels of blue green algae. Water NSW has advised that the Darling River is at Red Alert and the Murray River is at Amber Alert.

Red Alert means that untreated water may be toxic and is unsuitable for consumption if it is not treated.

The Wentworth Shire Council website provides updated information of blue green algae, based on the information issued by Water NSW.

Wentworth Shire Council would like to confirm that the drinking (filtered) water for Pooncarie, Wentworth, Dareton, Buronga and Gol Gol townships are all suitable for consumption. The Pooncarie township drinking water is currently being sourced from groundwater and not the Darling River.

Please be aware that the raw (unfiltered) water supplies are not treated and should not be consumed.
