Domestic Hard Rubbish Kerbside Collections

Wentworth Shire Council has a domestic hard waste initiative giving residents the opportunity to dispose of unwanted items in eligible households free of charge once per calendar year, between January and December 2024.

Eligible ITEMS (up to 2x2x1 metres per eligible address)

  • Old furniture, bed frames and mattresses
  • Electrical appliances & BBQ’s
  • Whitegoods* (fridges, freezers, air conditioners)
  • Lawn mowers
  • Hot water services (empty)
  • Scrap metal or other hard waste items

Non-Eligible ITEMS

  • Hazardous waste chemicals, oil fuel and other liquid waste
  • Glass (including broken glass)
  • Batteries, Green waste, soils and ashes
  • Car bodies and tyres

Please Note:

  • Items longer than 2 metres and/or too heavy for two people to lift will be refused
  • All small items must be less than 40kg per individual piece
  • No commercial hard rubbish will be collected
  • Refusal is at the discretion of the operator if unsafe to take.
  • Domestic hard rubbish collection can only be redeemed by the property owner or tenant, once per calendar year per property
  • Details of the request will be recorded under the registered property address in Council’s Waste Management System

*All refrigerators and freezers must be laid face down with the door closed and in contact with the ground surface.

Your application will then be lodged with the collection agency and you will be contacted to arrange for the collection of hard rubbish within 2-4 weeks of your confirmation from Council.
