2025 Australia Day Award Nominations for Wentworth Shire closing Monday 2 December 2024
Wentworth Shire Council has extended the nomination period to allow outstanding members of our community to be nominated for the 2025 Australia Day Awards. These awards recognise the achievements of individuals and groups who have made a significant contribution to Wentworth Shire, and provide an opportunity to reflect, respect, and celebrate the people who make our community a better place.
Australia Day is more than just the events of one day. It is about the ever-evolving story of our nation – our history, identity, and most importantly, our people. It reminds us of the common bond we share as Australians, united by our values, our democracy, and our connection to our country. Australia Day is also a time to reflect on the continuous culture of Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander Peoples, and to acknowledge the contributions and stories of all Australians.
Mayor Linklater emphasised the importance of the Awards, stating, “Australia Day is an opportunity to celebrate the incredible contributions of individuals and groups who work tirelessly for the benefit of our community. These awards recognise those who inspire us, foster unity, and help to make Wentworth Shire a great place to live. It’s a day where we can all reflect on our shared history and celebrate the values that unite us.”
