On Tuesday 4 February 2025, Wentworth Shire Council hosted the Sturt Highway Taskforce Meeting at the Wentworth Visitor Centre.
Attendees included Councillors, Mayors, General Managers, Transport for NSW and other key representatives which gathered in person and via Teams to discuss critical priority areas for the Sturt Highway, which spans multiple councils, including:
• Centre line separation
• Clear zones
• Overtaking lanes
• Rest areas
• Bypasses & more
Future meetings are scheduled for 2025 in Hay Shire Council (6 May), Balranald Shire Council (5 August) and Murrumbidgee Council (4 November).
Together, these discussions will shape the future of the Sturt Highway and ensure a safer, more efficient route for all who travel through the region.
