Domestic Hard Rubbish Kerbside Collections

Residents of Wentworth Shire Council are eligible for one collection per year to dispose of unwanted items from eligible households free of charge between January and December.

The last collection for 2025 is Wednesday 26 November 2025.

Please Note:

  • Items longer than 2 metres and/or too heavy for two people to lift will be refused
  • All small items must be less than 40kg per individual piece
  • No commercial hard rubbish will be collected
  • Refusal is at the discretion of the operator if unsafe to take.
  • Domestic hard rubbish collection can only be redeemed by the property owner or tenant, once per calendar year per property
  • Details of the request will be recorded under the registered property address in Council’s Waste Management System

*All refrigerators and freezers must be laid face down with the door closed and in contact with the ground surface.

  • Old furniture, bed frames and mattresses
  • Electrical appliances & BBQ’s
  • Whitegoods* (fridges, freezers, air conditioners)
  • Lawn mowers
  • Hot water services (empty)
  • Scrap metal or other hard waste items
  • Hazardous waste chemicals, oil fuel and other liquid waste
  • Glass (including broken glass)
  • Batteries, Green waste, soils and ashes
  • Car bodies and tyres

Your application will then be lodged with the collection agency and you will be contacted to arrange for the collection of hard rubbish within 2-4 weeks of your confirmation from Council.

Once your form is submitted, please allow up to five business days for Council Customer Service staff to review your application.

Eligibility checks for the 2025 Collections have now closed (31 October 2025). Please call Council on (03) 5027 5027 to see if there is any availability prior to the last collection (26 November 2025).
