Early Closure of Midway Service Centre – Friday 7 & 14 November 2025

Wentworth Shire Council wish to advise the community of temporary changes to the operating hours of the Midway Service Centre (including the Midway Library and Midway Council Customer Service).

Affected Dates:

  • Friday 7 November 2025
  • Friday 14 November 2025

Revised Hours of Operation:
On the dates listed above, the Midway Service Centre will close early at 12:00pm (Noon).

  • Revised Hours: 8:30am to 12:00pm.

Alternate Facilities Remaining Open
The following Council facilities will maintain their usual operating hours for community use:

  • Main Administration Office (Wentworth)
  • Dareton Library
  • Wentworth Library

For emergencies including blocked public drains, damage to local roads, animal control or fallen trees within Council’s parks and reserves, please call (03) 5027 5027.

For deliveries, please attempt re-delivery on the following Monday.

In life-threatening emergencies, or for urgent help from Police, Fire or Ambulance services, call 000 (Triple Zero).

Council Waste Facility Operating Hours Update

Council wishes to advise the Ellerslie/Palinyewah community of changes to access at the Ellerslie Transfer Station. From Thursday 31 July, the site will be manned by Council staff and open from 1.00pm to 4.00pm each Thursday and Saturday. This change marks a transition from the current unmanned, open-access arrangement to a staffed facility, with fees to apply in accordance with the 2025/2026 Operational Plan, available at: www.wentworth.nsw.gov.au/waste-fees 

Additionally, changes will take effect at the Dareton Transfer Station:

  • Dareton Transfer Station will now close at 12.00pm each Thursday and Saturday

  • Buronga Landfill:
    • Open 7 Days: 8.00am – 4.45pm
  • Dareton Transfer Station:
    • Thursdays: 9.00am – 12.00pm
    • Saturdays: 9.00am – 1.00pm
  • Ellerslie Transfer Station:
    • Thursdays: 1.00pm – 4.00pm
    • Saturdays: 1.00pm – 4.00pm
  • Pomona Tip:
    • Fridays, 9.00am – 12.00pm
  • Wentworth Transfer Station:
    • Wednesdays: 9.00am – 1.00pm
    • Fridays: 1.00pm – 4.00pm
    • Sundays: 9.00am – 2.00pm

Midway Centre Bendigo Bank Agency – Temporary Change to Opening Days

Due to ongoing staff shortages, the Midway Centre Bendigo Bank Agency in Buronga will now operate on Thursdays and Fridays only each week for the next five to eight weeks, commencing Friday 13 June 2025.

Opening hours remain unchanged:
10:00am–12:00noon and 1:00pm–4:00pm

Alternate banking services are available in Wentworth, Mildura and Merbein.
