Arumpo Road sealing has commenced
Contractors commenced sealing the first 13 kilometre section of Arumpo Road on Monday 18 November 2024.

Key project details:
24.52km section of road upgrades including 2 x 100mm sub base layers with 25 pieces of plant utilised on the project
Works commenced in June 2024
Expected completion of March 2025
Funding consists of $5 million (Australian Government) and $1.25 million (NSW Government)

Planned Critical Works at Wentworth Water Treatment Plant

Wentworth Shire Council wishes to advise residents of Wentworth that filtered water supply will be unavailable for an 8-hour period due to essential critical works at the Wentworth Water Treatment Plant: 10.30pm, Wednesday 21 May to 6.30am, Thursday 22 May

Residents are encouraged to plan ahead by avoiding water usage (such as showers or washing) during this time and preparing alternative water sources, such as buckets of water for toilet flushing. Please note, raw water supply will not be affected. Wentworth Shire Council apologises for any inconvenience caused during these necessary works and appreciates your understanding.

Safe Towing Workshop

How suitable is your towing vehicle?

  • Towing a trailer, horse float, boat or caravan – know your weights, towing capacity and loads.
  • Understand brake controllers, load equalisers, tow ball and safety chain configurations.
  • Maintenance must do’s.

Make sure you get it right for your rig. Non-compliance means no insurance cover and possible fines/demerits.

Workshop and practical session

  • Includes 1 hour workshop and 2 hours of group vehicle inspections/discussion.
  • Vehicle inspections available to the first 6 to register (per session), with group discussion and sharing of findings.

Additional session from 1pm-4pm (dependent on demand).

Registrations close 28 May 2025.

Pooncarie Road Scheduled Roadworks

Wentworth Shire Council advises that Pooncarie Road will be closed to general traffic and heavy vehicles from the Wentworth Tip to Darling View Road as of Thursday 8 May 2025 for a three-week period due to scheduled roadworks.  Detours will be in place via Fletchers Lake Road.

Residents and businesses located within this area will not be affected and have access at all times.

Council apologises for any inconvenience this may cause and thanks the community for its understanding and cooperation during this time.
