Have Your Say: New NSW Small Business Advisory Service
/by Marketing & CommunicationsHave Your Say: New NSW Small Business Advisory Service
Wentworth Shire Council is encouraging local small business owners to contribute to the design of a new NSW Government small business advisory service.
The Service NSW Business Bureau is seeking feedback to ensure that future advisory supports are effective, accessible, and tailored to the actual needs of small businesses at every stage of their journey.
Why Your Feedback Matters
By participating, you can help the NSW Government understand:
- The types of advice and key skills that are most critical to your success.
- The specific challenges faced by businesses in regional areas like Wentworth.
- The most effective ways to deliver these services to you.
How to Get Involved
There are two ways to provide your input before the deadline:
- Complete the Short Survey: Designed for quick but impactful feedback from business owners and their networks.
- Make a Written Submission: Provide a more detailed response regarding the specific supports that would best serve our local business community.
Key Dates
Consultation is currently open and will close at 11:59pm on Sunday 19 April 2026.

Free Breast Screening Mobile Clinic coming to Wentworth
/by Marketing & CommunicationsFree Breast Screening Mobile Clinic coming to Wentworth
Wentworth Shire Council is pleased to support BreastScreen NSW as they bring their mobile screening service to our community this April.
1 in 7 women in NSW will develop breast cancer in their lifetime. Because the risk increases with age, women aged 50 to 74 are particularly encouraged to attend, though all women over 40 are eligible for the free service.
Clinic Details
- Dates: Tuesday 21 April to Wednesday 29 April 2026.
- Location: Wentworth Health Service, 24 Hospital Road, Wentworth NSW 2648.
- Appointment Length: Approximately 20 minutes.
Why Book a Screen?
- Free Service: The BreastScreen NSW program is free for eligible women.
- Peace of Mind: Mammograms can detect very small breast cancers before they can be seen or felt.
- Female-Led: Screens are conducted by female radiographers in a private and professional environment.
- No Referral Needed: You can book directly without seeing a GP first.
What to Remember for Your Appointment
- Wear a two-piece outfit (you will need to remove clothing from the waist up).
- Do not use talcum powder, deodorant, or creams on the day, as these can affect the X-ray.
- If you have breast implants, please mention this when booking.
How to Book
Appointments are essential. You can book your free mammogram online or via phone:
- Online: book.breastscreen.nsw.gov.au
- Phone: 13 20 50

Locals urged to shape the future of our rivers
/by Marketing & CommunicationsLocals urged to shape the future of our rivers
After more than a decade of Basin Plan implementation, water management in the Basin has reached a critical point of reflection, and the conversation about its future is well underway.
In February, the Murray–Darling Basin Authority (MDBA) released the 2026 Basin Plan Review Discussion Paper, outlining progress to date and exploring the key issues, challenges and opportunities for the decade ahead.
Since then, hundreds of conversations have taken place in towns and communities across the Basin, and the consultation period is now at its halfway mark.
People who live and work in the Basin bring deep local knowledge and lived experience that is essential to this Review. These insights help build a clearer picture of what matters on the ground across communities, industries and environments.
With more than 2.4 million people living in the Basin, the MDBA is keen to hear from as many voices as possible to ensure a broad and balanced range of perspectives.
You don’t need to be an expert to take part. You can simply share what’s important to you, your family or your community. If there’s one issue you care about, you can focus on that. Even a few sentences can help inform the Review.
Consultation on the Discussion Paper remains open until 5:00 pm (AEST) on 1 May 2026.
The MDBA will publish a ‘what we heard’ report summarising the insights shared, which will help inform the Basin Plan Review Report to be provided to the Australian Government later this year.
Stay informed with the latest updates on the Basin Plan Review via www.mdba.gov.au. Access the discussion paper and make a submission at www.getinvolved.mdba.gov.au/2026basinplanreview
