Wentworth Shire Council Australia Day Citizenship and Awards Ceremony 2024, Introducing Australia Day Ambassador Mr Mike Goldman
Wentworth Shire Council is proud to host the Australia Day Citizenship and Awards Ceremony on Thursday 25 January 2024, at the Coomealla Memorial Sporting Club Auditorium in Dareton. The official ceremony commences at 6.30pm with the Auditorium welcoming attendees from 6pm. The event will include the Australia Day Awards, a Citizenship Ceremony and official proceedings, concluding with a light supper.
This year marks the 75th anniversary of Australian citizenship; on 26 January 1949, the Nationality and Citizenship Act 1948 came into effect creating the new status of Australian citizen and the first Australian citizenship ceremony was held on 3 February 1949 at Albert Hall in Canberra.
The 2024 Australia Day Ambassador for Wentworth Shire is Mr Mike Goldman. Mr Goldman is a prominent figure in Australian television, known for his two decades of involvement with the Big Brother franchise and his work in radio. His career also includes roles in television shows such as “Young Rock 2” and “Home and Away,” as well as feature films like “Zombie Plane” and “Monsters of Man.” His achievements extend to producing and voice work, contributing to projects across television, radio, and live events.
The event is open to the public, and award winners will be announced on the Council’s website at wentworth.nsw.gov.au following the ceremony.
