Animal Registration

chipin logo Under new legislation to the Companion Animal Act 1998 it is compulsory to have all dogs and cats born or who have changed owners since 1st July 1999 lifetime registered and permanently identified (microchipped).

Wentworth Shire Council holds a microchipping day every third Thursday of each month.

The cost of the microchip is $25.00 and the lifetime registration cost is as follows:

Standard (non desexed) $150.00
Desexed $40.00
Recognised Breeder $40.00
Pensioner (desexed) $15.00
Assistance Animal no fee

As a pet owner it is your responsibility to keep your dog on your property or when in public under effective control. If your dog is caught at large in a public place and not under effective control Council can and will impound your dog. The charges are as follows:
