| NewsAUSTRALIA DAY NOMINATIONS ARE NOW BEING SOUGHT The Council in conjunction with the Mainstreet Events Committee will again be involved with the Australia Day celebrations. As in past years Council will commence Australia Day with a breakfast barbeque at the Buronga Wetlands catered by the Buronga Gol Gol & District Lions Club. The Mildura Vintage Vehicles Club and the Sunraysia Historic Vehicles Club will be involved and Council will have a flag raising ceremony and breakfast which will commence at 7.45am. The Mayor Cr. Marg Thomson would like to advise that the venue for the Wentworth celebrations has been changed and they will now be held at Junction Reserve, Cadell Street, Wentworth. Following the official Citizen Award presentations a delicious lunch will be served by the Mainstreet Events Committee at a very reasonable price. Dareton will again be hosting their Australia Day celebrations with light refreshments and cool drinks available. Woolworth’s are again kindly hosting Australia Day Ambassadors throughout New South Wales and Council has made application to the Australia Day Council for an Ambassador to visit our communities. Nominations are being sought for the various Australia Day awards which are listed hereunder and include two new categories:- Citizen of the Year (must be 18 years of age and over on 26th January, 2010) Nomination forms are available from Council’s Customer Service Officers at the Shire offices, 26-28 Adelaide Street or can be downloaded from the website: www.wentworth.nsw.gov.au and are due before 5pm on Friday 13 November 2009. |
