| NewsWentworth Moves to Level 3A Water Restrictions Wentworth Council started the financial year with level 4 as requested by the State Government. In July Council decided to review the situation monthly. The State Government advised councils that they could move from level 4 to 3a if they bought water from the open market or held additional water licences in addition to town licences. The Mayor, Councillor Margaret Thomson, advised that as Council holds additional licences it is now possible to move from level 4 to level 3a. “It is good news for residents. Council also resolved to review the situation monthly,” she said. The Mayor went on to say that Council has been advised that if inflows into the Murray system increase over coming months it may be possible for Council to relax the restrictions further. The State Government has advised that it is not possible for any council along the Murray to move beyond 3a until water inflows improve. Stage 3a water restrictions mean that residents supplied by Wentworth Shire Council can water outside up to 4 hours per week, but not lawns. Council will be issuing pamphlets to residents in the coming week about the water restrictions and any conditions that might apply. |
