Wentworth Shire Businesses Recognised
Friday, 31st July, 2009

Two Wentworth Shire businesses were recognised at the NSW Inland Tourism Awards held in Narrabri on 24 July.

Trentham Estate won the Wineries, Distilleries & Boutique Breweries section of the Inland Tourism Awards and All Seasons Houseboats won the Unique Accommodation Section.

The Mayor, Councillor Margaret Thomson said that both businesses were worthy winners.  “Both are fine examples of the strength of tourism performers in this region,” she said.

Competition was strong at the 2009 CountryLink Inland Tourism Awards. From the 58 finalists, 18 businesses were awarded in their category with two people also receiving individual awards.

Outback Regional Tourism, of which Wentworth Shire Council is a member, was also successful in two categories – Tourism Marketing Award and the New Tourism Development Award – both of which were for the very successful Darling River Run.

Mayor Thomson went on to say that the south west corner of NSW has many wonderful opportunities for tourists to enjoy and we are all extremely proud of these achievements at the State level.
