Dareton Library

Membership

Membership of the Library is open to anyone, free of charge. Application forms are available at your Library. Proof of identification and your home address will be requested. A parent's or guardian's signature is requested for those under 18 years.

Visitors

Visiting Library users are required to pay a deposit of $20.00 when applying for membership. This money will be refunded on return of all borrowed items.

Borrowing

Borrowers are entitled to ten (10) books at any time. Books can be borrowed for a period not exceeding three (3) weeks.

Renewals of Loans

Items can be renewed if there are no reservations for the item. This can be done by phone or in the Library. We need to know the date due and the details of the item.

Information

Libraries are information centres as well as places for browsing and borrowing. Our staff are trained to locate information - from sources anywhere inside or outside the Library. Public Libraries are part of a network of information agencies which reach beyond the boundaries of your town or state.

Finding What You Want

The library catalogue is available to all library users on the On-line Public Access Computer (OPAC). This service is not available at Pooncarie. If you cannot locate the book or information you require, please ask the staff, they are happy to assist you.

Inter-Library Loans

We can obtain books or information from other Libraries or agencies if they are not held by this Library. Please bring as much information as possible. We ask you to bear in mind that books in heavy demand, or which have to be purchased from overseas or borrowed from another Library, may take a while to arrive.

Library Charges

Lost or Damaged Items

Damaged or lost books, etc, are charged for at replacement cost, plus an amount to cover the Library's cost of processing.

Overdue Costs

Please note that by returning your borrowed items within the allotted 21 days, or by telephoning the Library to extend the loan period, these charges are totally avoidable. After material has been overdue without an explanation charges will apply.
