STATEMENT OF HERITAGE SIGNIFICANCE

Architecture/Environment:
Nulla Nulla supports numerous dwellings established around the owner/managers residence. The main residence and the dwellings directly adjacent to the north west have architectural merit. Both dwellings are clad with weatherboard corrugated iron and extend over wrap around verandahs, partially enclosed. The verandahs are supported by chamfered posts and decorated with timber balustrades. The elevated homes, reminiscent of Queensland architecture, are designed in an attempt to increase ventilation and reduce the impact of high temperatures during the hot dry summers. They are the only dwellings of this style in the Shire.

History:
Nulla Nulla became the main centre of activity for Lake Victoria Station in the early 1920’s when reliance on river transport was no longer necessary. The numerous homesteads and worksheds reflect the size and importance of the inland holding.

Recommendation:
Maintenance of the main dwellings in existing form
