STATEMENT OF HERITAGE SIGNIFICANCE
Architecture/Environment:
History:
The site comprises the remains of a small timber prison cell and police hut situated on the banks of the Murray River. Window bars are still in place on a high opening in the cell. Prisoners under arrest were placed in the cell during the overnight stays required by horseback journey to Wentworth, or for awaiting more suitable troopers in policing such expansive areas.
Recommendation:
Encourage restoration.
