STATEMENT OF HERITAGE SIGNIFICANCE

Architecture/Environment:
A single storey dwelling constructed of jointed cement blocks. The building has a gambrel iron roof, with adjoining verandah supported by turned timber posts displaying shaped timber brackets. The roof gables are highlighted by decorative cast iron finials. The homestead is located on the edge of a large gully overlooking a heavily timbered area and billabong. The exposed “wall” of the gully demonstrates unusual soil striations and has been recently recognised as being of geological significance. The dwelling and its setting form an impressive reminder of the pastoral pioneers and the relationship with the delicate and ancient natural environment.
