STATEMENT OF HERITAGE SIGNIFICANCE

Architecture/Environment:
A very attractive single storey dwelling constructed of hand made cement blocks made on the property. The dwelling features an iron hip gable roof. A second roof-line convers the wrap around verandah, built at a later stage which is supported by slender timber posts. The double panel front windows and doorway have side and top lights of coloured glass. The dwelling is set adjacent to Tuckers Creek amidst a well maintained garden. Recent renovations include a colourbond roof and enclosed side verandah. The dwelling is unique within the irrigation area due to its larger size, construction materials and style. The dwellings interior is Oregon timber. Two fire places are of English Oak.

History:
The allotment was first owned by Gabrial Wells (butcher) and taken up by Taylor in 1912. The architect designed dwelling was built for the Taylor family and sold to the Midgleys in 1923.

Recommendation:
Continued Maintenance of house and garden in existing form.
