What do I have to do to be able to sell food and drink at public events? or Can I sell food and drink at public events?

If you want to sell or provide food and drink at public events, you need to apply for approval from Council. Applications must be provided to Council at least 5 days prior to the event. Once your application has been approved by Council, you will receive a permit with a unique approval number to provide to the event organiser. This permit must be available for inspection at all times during an event. Event organisers will need to approve your participation at each event.

If you are a regular attender of an event that occurs more than once during the year, you can list the dates you will be attending in the application and receive approval for all occasions, providing the food being sold does not change, in which case a new application would be required.

Temporary stalls selling or providing goods not in the supplier's original packaging that are ready-to-eat and potentially hazardous will need to appoint a food safety supervisor in line with the NSW Food Authority requirements.
