Coomealla Memorial Gardens (CMG)

CMG is located on a Crown Land Reserve with Wentworth Shire Council appointed Trustee and tasked with care and control of the Reserve since September 1962. The Coomealla Memorial Gardens is a cemetery, crematorium and outdoor chapel located amongst natural bushland that has served the Wentworth Shires district and surrounding communities for over 50 years.

Since assuming Trusteeship Council has developed the 28 hectares of landscaped grounds which have been planted to enhance the natural environment. The outcome is  a stunning location for friends and family alike to come and enjoy the beauty and relaxing environment of the flourishing gardens as they pay respect to their loved ones.

The Coomealla Memorial Gardens is located on Brennan Avenue (North off the Silver City Highway 2km east of the Dareton Township).

Please feel free to visit and enjoy the well-tended and tranquil lawns and gardens any time.

Gol Gol Cemetery

The dedication of the Gol Gol Cemetery occurred 15 August 1879. Historically the Gol Gol Cemetery and associated records were maintained by Church organisations and Cemetery Trust Boards. Wentworth Shire Council became Trustees of the cemetery in February 2004.

The Gol Gol Cemetery offers well-tended lawns and beautiful surrounding gardens resulting in a tranquil setting within Gol Gol Township.

The Gol Gol Cemetery is located on the corner of Wood Street and Blight Street Gol Gol.

Wentworth Cemetery

The proclamation of the Dedication of a General Cemetery at Wentworth occurred 26 August 1890.

In 1938 a section of the area set aside for the cemetery was appropriated for Lock purposes. The front fence of the cemetery and some of the graves were moved back to allow room for a road and the building of Lock 10.  For those interested in the historical graves there is a Cemetery Walking Tour Map available from the Wentworth Visitor Information Centre.

Operated by the Wentworth Shire Council and located near the picturesque Murray River and opposite the historical Lock 10 weir the Wentworth cemetery has served the Wentworth shires district and surrounding communities since the late 1800’s.

The Wentworth Cemetery is located between Wilmont St and West St just 100 meters off Cadell St Wentworth.

Pooncarie Cemetery

The Reserve for the Pooncarie Cemetery was notified April 1903 and was managed by a Trust Board until approximately 1958.  At that time there were insufficient board members to manage the Trust. In March 2010 Wentworth Shire Council was approached to become Trustees of this historical site.

At the Council meeting held 23 June 2010 Council resolved to accept trust management of the reserve. Pooncarie Cemetery is located on Cemetery Road Pooncarie on the left just before you leave Pooncarie on the way to Menindee.
