Men in a ShedThe Men in a Shed is a not-for-profit community group run by its members and assisted by a number of community organisations including the Shire, Dareton Primary Health, the Waters family, the Coomealla Memorial Sporting Club, Wentworth Services Sporting Club and the Wentworth Community Bank. Men of all ages are welcome to join in the Shed activities including woodwork, mechanical restoration, metalwork and art.
Mr George Wornes has stepped down from the position of Co-coordinator after a period of some 5 1/2 years. The Group acknowledges the work George has done during his time as Co-coordinator, with sincere thanks, especially in the early setting up stages. The Men in a shed now have a Sub Committee of three members responsible for the coordinating of the Groups activities, they being: Bob Jones, Bill Spark & Mr Peter Waters. Mr Merv Wescombe retains the position of Treasurer for the Group. The Men would like to acknowledge with sincere thanks the recent financial assistance given us by the Coomealla Memorial Sporting Club Ltd $3000 to be used to pay our Insurance commitments for 2011 - 2012, the Wentworth Community Bank for $1200 for equipment purchases, and the Wentworth Shire Council's annual grant of $1000 also for equipment purchases. We greatly appreciate the financial assistance given us by these Sponsors over the past 5 1/2 years. The Group currently has 25 financial members and operates two days a week, Saturdays and Wednesdays 9.00am to 12 noon. The membership fee is $20.00 paid annually. Our Workshop is situated in the old Coomealla Packers Building on the Silver City Highway at Dareton NSW 2717 We welcome any new members that may be thinking of joining our Group, you can join in the Groups activities, pop in for a cuppa or just come in for the for a yarn, all are welcome.
