Men in a Shed

Find the latest MIAS news here

The Men in a Shed is a not-for-profit community group run by its members and assisted by a number of community organisations including the Shire, Dareton Primary Health, the Waters family, the Coomealla Memorial Sporting Club, Wentworth Services Sporting Club and the Wentworth Community Bank.

Men of all ages are welcome to join in the Shed activities including woodwork, mechanical restoration, metalwork and art.

Shed Men
Men in a Shed members are all smiles as their workshop continues to take shape.

The Shed is open most Wednesdays and Saturdays from 9am with sessions ending about lunch time. There is always a cuppa on the go and a drop-in visit for a chat is encouraged.

The group is relatively new, having started from scratch in November 2005. However, in that time it has found a home in the old Coomealla Packers building at Dareton (thanks to the generous support of John Waters and his family), incorporated, arranged insurance cover and successfully applied for funding from several sources to begin outfitting the Shed’s workshop.

Membership is $20 per year with the membership year being aligned to the financial year. Memberships are due on July 1 each year.

Office bearers for the group are:

Co-ordinator: George Wornes

Treasurer: Merv Wescombe

For more information contact George Wornes on (03) 5027 6337.
